Cartilage tissue is a solid both compressive and bending elastic support avascular tissue, which also forms in the development of the system of the bony skeleton. It can be cut, and like the other connective- and supportive tissue forms consist of cells and the surrounding intercellular substance, which consists of shaped and unshaped components.

Cryoconservation

Cryopreservation refers to the storage of cells or tissues by freezing it in liquid nitrogen. Using this method, it is possible to maintain the vitality of the cells almost unlimited, although the biological system enters the state of aggregation of a solid. Cryopreservation can be applied to both, plant cells and in animal cells, in humans for example also in sperm, ova and embryos.

Pluripotency

Pluripotent stem cells refer to cells, which possess the ability to differentiate into any cell type of an organism, as they are still set to any particular tissue type.


Progenitor cell

A progenitor cell is the progeny of a multi-potent adult stem cell or isolated from fetal tissue. On one hand it comprises in terms of their ability to regenerate stem cell properties, but on the other hand, it is set to a future functional area - however, this "definition" is still reversible. Progenitor cells are therefore sometimes referred to as determinate stem cells.

Besides the authorization to manufacture a human medicinal product in accordance with § 13 (1) of the German Medicinal Products Act (AMG) for autologous mesenchymal stem cells, TICEBA is also authorized to manufacture a medicinal product for allogeneic mesenchymal as well as allogeneic limbal ABCB5 + stem cells following a recent extension.
